Accompanying Munro's graceful writing is an exciting and terrifying tension, and the threat of violence seems ready to burst through the delicate surface of almost every story. The most powerful is "Free Radicals" because of the way Munro employs such a pared down plot to convince us that this is real, that murderers are at our doorsteps, that storytelling can save your life, that you just "never know."
